A Little Kindness, Beyond Ourselves

There is a kind of kindness that asks for nothing in return.

And then there is the kind that quietly becomes part of your life. 'Moni', 'Chimpu' & others in their group. Now who are these 2 I mentioned?

For the past decade, my brother Tanmay and I (especially my brother), have been looking after some dogs in our area - some of them since the day they were born. These are just two of the several angels in that group. Moni has crossed the rainbow in December 2024 but still is in our hearts.

We have watched them grow, watched new generations arrive, learnt their personalities, their habits, their little fears and their endless ways of finding joy in the simplest things.

It is easy to call this kindness.

But honestly, that has never quite felt right to us. Because we don't think we are simply being kind to them. It is the other way round!

They have been kind to us. In ways they will never know.

They have been there through ordinary days and difficult ones. They have given us a reason to step outside, something to care for, something to look forward to, and a kind of uncomplicated love that asks no questions.

In many ways, they have kept us going. They have kept us grounded. They have kept us sane.

And perhaps, in their own quiet way, they have kept us alive too.

So when we say that a portion of our revenue supports the wellbeing of stray animals, it is not simply a gesture of giving back.

It is our way of acknowledging a bond that has given us far more than we could ever return.

At Maison Ormès, kindness extends beyond ourselves. And it keeps us going.

Because sometimes, the ones we think we are helping are the ones who have been holding us together all along.
